Kraft Did The Right Thing With Belichick, Until He Didn't!
It's no secret I think the firing of Bill Belichick was long overdue. It is also no secret that I believe Coach Belichick to be massively overrated and can't win without an elite quarterback that can mask the lack of weapons that his coach doesn't believe are important. I use his record without Tom Brady and the many head scratching free agent and draft decisions from the Coach during the latter half of his tenure in New England. All that aside, the Post-Belichick era in New England has been an unmitigated disaster through it's first week, and it started unraveling right from Jump Street!
"Every decision has been his and we’ve always supported him,”
"We know how important it is to the psyche of the community and what's gone on here the last three, four years isn't what we want. We have a responsibility to do what we can to fix it to the best of our ability."
‘Bill (Belichick) told me he couldn’t play anymore. Then he goes out and wins the f****** Super Bowl.’
These are all quotes that came out in the last week from Robert Kraft in the wake of the firing of Bill Belichick. Literally the moment Belichick stepped off the podium after not taking questions, Mr. Kraft started airing out dirty laundry and separating himself from the most accomplished coach in NFL History. The slow nasal drawl that sounds often inebriated wasted know time in quietly leaking the responsibility for the failings of the last 5+ years has ALL been Belichick's. Say what you want about the ornery coach, I do not believe for a second that he deserves all the blame for the Patriot's failings. He deserves a lot of it, but not all of it!
I do not think Bill wanted to draft Mac Jones. I think if Bill had his way, Patricia and Judge would have been the offensive coordinators this past season. Interestingly enough, everyone gave Bill such a hard time for that, but guess what? THEY WERE BETTER LAST YEAR! I think he it's possible, as has been stated in the media this week, Bill would have moved on from Tom Brady in 2007, yes 2007, and I think he definitely would have moved on from him in 2013 when he had to be "convinced" to keep him. I also think he would have rather had Jimmy Garoppolo than Tom Brady post 2014, and Robert Kraft already explained what happened in 2019. Bill was wrong all these times, but it wasn't just him!
